Sirte

Sirt, also Surt and Sirte is a city in Libya, in the Surt District. Sirt is a custom-build city waiting for the day when it can be declared the capital of the United States of Africa. Under the Italians it was an administrative centre and since the revolution it has become rapidly growing city.

It is friendly enough town but the only reason for the travellers to spend any time here is to break up the long journey between Benghazi and Tripoli.If you need to stay overnight, there is decent accommodation and at least one good restaurant.
