Libyan Airlines begins fleet update
Libyan Airlines has begun an upgrade of its short-haul fleet with the delivery of the first of seven new Airbus A320s it has on order.The CFM56-5B4-powered twinjets will be operated on the airline’s domestic and regional network from its hub in Tripoli, Libya. The aircraft are equipped with several rows of convertible seats enabling various cabin layouts, as well as OnAir’s in-flight connectivity suite. Cabin configurations can range from a standard two-class configuration with 32 business class seats and 108 economy class seats to a 156-seat all-economy layout.
“Our new A320, offering the best cabin comfort, and equipped with state of the art connectivity will bring unprecedented levels of service to our market,” says Captain Sabri, who is chairman of the airline’s parent Libyan Aviation Holding Company. “This is a major milestone in the history of Libyan Airlines.”
The airline’s existing Airbus fleet comprises two older A320s and two A300-600R widebodies, while four A330-200s and four A350-800s are on order. For its regional network, Libyan flies two ATR 42-500s and five Bombardier CRJ900s, as well as three de Havilland Canada Twin Otters.
